چکیده

An overview is presented of the metazoan alien biota recorded from the Mediterranean coast of Israel. Of the 296 alien species, 284 have been introduced from the Red Sea/Indo West-Pacific through the Suez Canal. A brief history of the research on introduced species along the Israeli coast is presented along with the list of species, and their ecological and economic impacts are discussed.

The first Red-Sea Indo-Pacific alien moray eel in the Eastern Mediterranean is reported here. A single specimen ot Gymnothorax reticularis was captured by a commercial bottom-trawl vessel off the northern coast of Israel. Species distribution modelling of invasive alien species; Pterois miles for current distribution and future suitable habitats

The present study aims to predict the potential geographic distribution and future expansion of invasive alien lionfish (Pterois miles) with ecological niche modelling along the Mediterranean Sea. The primary data consisted of occurrence points of P. miles in the Mediterranean and marine climatic data layers were collected from global databases. All the used models run 100% su...

Red Sea fishes in the Mediterranean Sea: a preliminary investigation of a biological invasion using DNA barcoding

Aim More than 90 marine fish species in the Mediterranean have been determined to be alien species of Red Sea origin to date and therefore it is important to prioritize research into cataloguing their distribution and impacts. The aims of this study were to establish a barcode library for alien Mediterranean fishes of probable Red Sea origin and to initiate analyses of their invasion dynamics.
